UPPC Scoops Outstanding Publishing Company of the Year at the 4th KACITA Awards
Kansanga, 25th October 2024: Themed, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Innovation,” the 4th edition of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) Quality Awards brought together Uganda’s top-performing businesses to recognize excellence and impact across industries. The prestigious event acknowledged companies that champion quality and innovation, inspiring others in Uganda’s business landscape to follow suit.
During the event, the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) was awarded ‘Outstanding Publishing Company of the Year.’ This award underscored UPPC's dedication to advancing the Ugandan printing and publishing sector by embracing innovation and excellence.
KACITA’s continuous plan to conduct research and awareness campaigns complements UPPC’s own values, as both entities aim to foster sustainable growth and self-reliance within Uganda’s business environment. The awards serve as a reminder of the transformative potential of prioritizing quality and innovation.
Following the event, a delegation from KACITA visited the UPPC head office in Entebbe to present the prestigious award to Prof. Sudi Nangoli, the UPPC Managing Director. Prof. Nangoli, known for his visionary leadership, expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating,
“This recognition truly reflects our unwavering commitment to quality and excellence. My sincere gratitude goes out to everyone who voted for us and to our dedicated team, whose tireless work upholds the standards our stakeholders expect.”
Prof. Nangoli also highlighted UPPC’s ambitious plans to digitize 80% of its services by 2027, a move intended to expand access to UPPC’s offerings and enhance the ease with which clients can engage with UPPC’s publications. This move aligns with KACITA’s broader mission of driving sustainable growth through research, awareness campaigns, and innovation that bolster quality in Ugandan industries.
The KACITA Quality Award not only recognizes UPPC’s strides towards innovation, but also marks its significant progress in bridging traditional publishing with the digital world. UPPC’s recent launch of an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program also reflects a deep commitment to sustainability and local resource utilization, aligning with Uganda’s Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy and Vision 2040 goals.
Prof. Nangoli’s leadership at UPPC exemplifies the transformative power of a forward-thinking approach in public-sector organizations. By prioritizing quality and sustainability, UPPC has set a new standard in Uganda’s publishing industry, motivating others to champion excellence and innovation. The award celebrates UPPC’s accomplishments and serves as an inspiration to Uganda’s business and service sectors to uphold these values in their work.
