UPPC Joins Lake Victoria School for 100-year Anniversary Celebrations

Entebbe, 08th September, 2024: In preparation for Lake Victoria School Entebbe’s 100-year anniversary celebration, the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) participated in an energizing marathon. The marathon, which follows a series of activities including; tree planting, a medical camp and legal camp, concluded the pre-event activities for the century celebrations. 

The 10km and 5km marathon around Entebbe town brought together a diverse group of participants, including; the school’s alumni, staff, students, well-wishers and event partners run, exercise and network. The event served not only as an opportunity for exercise but also as a platform for networking and fostering communism.

The Chief Runner, Prof. Sudi Nangoli -Managing Director UPPC was ably represented by Mr. Joseph Opio Okurut -Director Internal Operations. Okurut congratulated Lake Victoria School on reaching this significant milestone and acknowledged the institution’s contribution to quality education over the past century. 

“UPPC is proud to support such impactful community initiatives. As educators, you are nurturing the future of Uganda, and we stand with you in your mission to uplift our community. We are committed to being a part of this journey towards continued growth and development,” Okurut remarked.

Lake Victoria School’s Headteacher, Mr. Steven Nabende, expressed his gratitude for UPPC’s involvement, recognizing them as a key partner in the centenary celebrations having recently celebrated their 120-year anniversary. He also extended an invitation to the school’s alumni to join hands in furthering the school’s development.

“We are humbled by the support from UPPC and other partners as we celebrate 100 years of excellence. The marathon is just one of many activities planned, alongside tree planting, a medical camp, and a legal clinic. I encourage all former students to participate and contribute to the school’s continued success,” Nabende said.

The Lake Victoria School century celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, 21st September 2024, at the school premises under the theme, ‘Trained to Last.’ The chief guest will be H.E. Sylvia Nagginda Luswata, the Nnabagereka of Buganda, who also doubles as an alumna of the school will lead the festivities.

As one of the event’s key partners, UPPC is honored to be part of these milestone celebrations, underscoring their commitment to community development and education.
