UPPC Print School Strengthens Staff Capacity Through Partnership with Technical University of Kenya
The UPPC Print School is strengthening staff capacity through a partnership with the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K), which is supporting four employees to pursue a four-year Bachelor of Technology in Printing.
The programme is a significant investment in human capital. It equips staff with advanced technical knowledge, practical skills and modern approaches to printing technology, production management and related disciplines. The training also supports UPPC's commitment to delivering quality, efficient and innovative printing services.
The partnership comes at a time when the printing and publishing industry is evolving rapidly. Modern printing demands professionals with up-to-date expertise in advanced printing systems, production planning, quality control and emerging technologies. By combining workplace experience with academic training, the programme is preparing staff to meet changing industry needs and drive innovation within the Corporation.
As Uganda's government printer and publisher, UPPC plays a vital role in providing reliable printing and publishing services to government institutions, agencies and the public. Strengthening employees' technical capabilities contributes directly to improved efficiency, better service delivery and the continued modernisation of the Corporation's operations.
While four staff members are the direct beneficiaries, the impact extends far beyond the classroom. The knowledge and skills they acquire will strengthen the Corporation, enhance service to clients and contribute to the growth of Uganda's printing and publishing sector.
The four-year degree combines theory with practical application, enabling participants to develop deeper technical competence and apply their learning to improve processes, support innovation and advance industry standards.
Through this collaboration, UPPC continues to demonstrate that strategic partnerships and employee development are essential drivers of institutional success and the future growth of Uganda’s printing and publishing sector.
